­­The year 2023-24 is the 100th anniversary since the birth of  Maria Callas - one of the world's most famous female opera singers. For that occasion, Orto Polare produces "Master Class" - a Tony-winning play by Terrence McNally. The performance has never been staged in Norway before.
The play is a fictional Masterclass that Maria Callas, the legendary opera Diva, gives to aspiring young singers, near the end of her short life. 
With this play, we wish to arouse the importance of Art in today's society. The actress Gørild Mauseth will give a new and deeper interpretation and understanding of Callas as the woman and the artist. We will meet a glamorous, commanding, vulnerable, larger-than-life, caustic and surprisingly funny educator, and Diva! Through her, we will experience a Master Class about humanity that teaches us how to cope with life, how to follow our goal, make choices, how to accept setbacks, and how to enjoy and survive.
