Ronald Rindestu passed away

Barents cooperation veteran and former County Governor of Troms, Ronald Rindestu died on February 16.

Ronald Rindestu (1942-2012) was a prominent person in Barents cooperation, being a member of the Regional Council from the mid-90ties till 2007.

He travelled extensively throughout the Barents Region, both to visit fellow regional politicians and to support people-to-people projects.

He was elected County Governor of Troms in northern Norway for 12 years.

After politics, Rindestu continued the cooperation between northern Norway and Barents Russia in the position as head of the board of Red Cross in Troms.

Ronald Rindestu represented the Centre Party and was known as a supporter of Norwegian membership to the European Union.
