«Northern Lands» on the northern land.
On the second of March a new jazz festival “Northern lands” will take place in Arkhangelsk.
The festival will gather together musicians from different countries of the Barents region. The event will be a combination of musical performances and master classes, where anyone living in Arkhangelsk will have an opportunity to try to be a musician. The general idea of the festival is to connect musicians, organizers and listeners.
The program will be unique and will include master classes on the goat-horn playing – traditional instrument of Vikings, sound production as well as singing. On the third of March jam-session will take place, where everyone will be able to play with the festival participants.
Barents regional cooperation in the cultural sphere is developing with a fast pace. Soon dance theatre Stellaris (stellaris.no) from Hammerfest is coming to Arkhangelsk with a performance. In March Hålogaland theatre will visit Arkhangelsk and show “Hamlet”, not that long ago the Arkhangelsk State Chambers Orchestra has returned from Tromso, where it participated in the Northern lights musical festival, what is more, there are a lot of projects planned to be carried out in autumn of 2012.
