New documentary on Litza front history
The Russian WWII documentary “Three years before the autumn” recollects the price of the war from both sides of the front line. This Thursday the documentary has its Norwegian premiere in Kirkenes.
As time passes by since the war, it becomes more obvious that there is a lot of important information about the war years that are missing. Many documents are no longer top secret and this adds vital information to war history.
Murmansk studio “Rec.A” has collected such historical data, met historians and veterans of the war and their descendants, worked with historical researchers, and carried out the filming at the battle fields. This has resulted in the documentary film “Three years before the autumn”. A documentary about the military actions in the North during World War II. The project has been supported by the Norwegian Barents Secretariat with 199 000 NOK.
The documentary is launched during the celebrations of the 70th anniversary since Petsamo-Kirkenes operation that liberated the Kola North and East Finnmark from the Hitler’s troops. The audience will see the history not only through the eyes of soviet military cameramen, but also through the eyes of military documentary film makers of Great Britain and Germany.
The main task of “Three years before the autumn” documentary film is to look back at the war 70 years later from both sides of the front line, and to recollect once again what was the price of the victory.
Film duration is 130 minutes. The film is also produced in DVDs of 5 000 copies in Russian, English, and Norwegian. The premiere in Murmansk is on 17th October, in Kirkenes – on 23-24th October. The film “Three years before the autumn” is the first part of a dilogy of the victory anniversary. The second film “The Fighters” will be released in May 2015 and will tell about the heroic actions of Norwegian partisans. The film was created with the state and private support of Russian and Norwegian organizations.
