Barents Bird flies to Murmansk

The Barents Bird festival is landing in Murmansk the coming week, and brings with it the spring of concerts, films, theatrical performances, lectures, workshops and discussions.

Between April 8th and 16th the festival will warm the hearts and challenge the minds of the people of Murmansk, as well as all guests participating in cultural exchange.

Cleaning women
This year the Barents Bird-2016 opening concert will be held by the experimental industrial Finnish music band Cleaning Women, singing about the benefit of cleaning. They express their message by playing on drying racks and washing machine drums.

The festival provides a unique opportunity to watch atmospheric movies from Norway, Sweden, Russia and Israel. Among the contributors at the festival is the famous contemporary Norwegian writer Herbjørg Wassmo, or you could listen to the heartwarming music of Ola Bremnes and Ensemble Noor, or what about visiting exhibitions by artists from all over the Barents region, taste the flavors of Nordic cuisine, and more.

Valuable cultural traditions
- With such a diversity, everyone will definitely find something of interest. Keeping alive valuable cultural traditions that make people closer is an important mission of the festival, says Sergey Yershov who is head of the Committee of Culture and Art of Murmansk oblast.

The series of festival events is impressive, with a vast variety of genres, artists and activities. All participants hope that the Barents Bird will flap its wings and bring a fresh wind of new ideas.
